STUDY CASE


CUSTOMER CHURN ANALYSIS OF TELECOM COMPANY

Project Summary:

Data analyst teams at telecom companies in California are investigating customer churn conditions since the company just released their reports on Q2 2022. Here summary of the insights:

If we take a look into churned customers with 1 tenure in a month (new cust that just joined last month then churn at the same month), we can see that 60% of our new customers were churn in June 2022 meanwhile our lowest monthly churn rate is 30% in January 2022. So the objective was to reduce the customer churn rate back to 30% from 60% at Q4 of 2022.

Using logistic regression we can find our customer churn modeling to predict a customer tendency to churn. Our builded logistic regression model has 79% of accuracy. We find that 5 fields that have the most impact on churn rate are contract monthly, internet service, internet type DSL, number of dependants, & number of referrals. Around 27% of our stayed customers have a churn probability rate above 50%. We need to do some prevention & improvement as listed below:

  • Prevention: We need to give customers that have a monthly contract type an special offer to upgrade their contract type to one or two year contract.

  • Improvement: The more the number of dependents and referral, the more likely they will stay. Create a family package offer to attract loyal customers or offer a gift for every referral code claimed.

AIRBNB LISTINGS ON SINGAPORE

Project Summary:

Airbnb is a peer-to-peer online marketplace and living network that allows users to list or rent out properties for short-term use. There are many types of Listings and hosts from neighborhoods and regions. But we need a dashboard to present Key Performance Indicator (KPI) analysis data that is computational based. So we can find how many listings and hosts are spread with varying prices in one dashboard.

  • There are 1,128 number of hosts

  • Geylang (108) was the most hosted in neighborhood

  • Fiona (188) is the host with highest listings.

  • The most reviewed host is Felix with 322 reviews

  • Tuas in west region is the most expensive listings with price 10,286

  • Mandai in north region is the cheapest listings with price 43

  • There are 1,063 host with listings below 10 & 6 host with listings above 100.

CLUSTER ANALYSIS OF MUTUAL FUND INVESTMENT COMPANY

Project Summary:

An Indonesian investment platform startup currently focusing on app-based mutual fund investments, preparing to expand into government bond investment products, was asked to segment for this purpose and provide communication recommendations for campaign themes by identifying appropriate campaigns to expand into government bond investment products in addition to existing mutual fund products.In the mobile app developed by the company, users can register as investors and conduct buy or sell transactions on selected mutual funds. In addition, the platform offers Robo-Investing, which allows users to invest in a diversified mutual fund portfolio without hassle while considering the factors such as age, income, and overall risk profile the platform offers Robo-Investing, which allows users to invest in a diversified mutual fund portfolio without hassle while considering the factors such as age, income, and overall risk profile.The company was planning to expand into government bond investment products, in addition to its existing mutual fund products. The marketing and sales team wanted to run a thematic communication campaign for the upcoming product, but wanted to customize the campaign for a few relevant segments. Commissioned to provide segmentation for this purpose and provide communication recommendations for the campaign theme. See the insights below:

  • Least traffic is on monday and highest on Friday. We can create push notification or email every thursday or friday containing recommendation content for each clusters.

  • We found that there are 2 clusters on our customer segmentation there are; Reksadana Enjoyer (Low Risk Low Return) & Reksadana Hardcore (High Risk High Return)

  • Recommendation for 'Reksadana Enjoyer' segmentation: Give notification on current high profited product so they willing to spend more for more profit

  • Recommendation for 'Reksadana Hardcore' segmentation: Create dedicated article for them to make a better transaction activity about how to avoid loss and profit more

THE LOOK ECOMMERCE DATA EXPLORATION

Project Summary:

The Look is a fictitious eCommerce clothing site developed by the Looker team. The dataset contains information about customers, products, orders, logistics, web events, and digital marketing campaigns. The contents of this dataset are synthetic and are provided to industry practitioners for the purpose of product discovery, testing, and evaluation. You need to find some insights from these datasets using SQL Query. Here summary of the insights:

  • Highest inventory growth rate is in January 2020 which possibly occurred because that was the early period of Covid 19.

  • Almost all category in January 2020 has positive inventory growth rate means all category were piled up at January 2020

  • Even so, the customer retention rate and customers who come back in the following month is rather low. It’s increasing in the following month from the first month. The earliest customers in January 2022 tend to come back again in the following month.

MALAYSIA PROPERTY PRICING MODELS

Project Summary:

A property consulting firm in Malaysia wants to predict the value of a property specifically based on the number of rooms, bathrooms, parking lots & building area. However, the dataset are cluttered and only contains the full price along with the building specifications. You need to do proper data cleaning, do EDA and create a pricing model. Here the summary:

PRICING MODEL FORMULA

  • Using linear regression, we find that price = 0 + 219488 * rooms + 254699 * bathrooms + 28031 * car parks + 3 * size + 588317

PRICING MODEL INTERPRETATION

  • For every one-unit increase of the variable rooms, it will increase 219,488 in price

  • For every one-unit increase of the variable bathrooms, it will increase 254,699 in price

  • For every one-unit increase of the variable car parks, it will increase 28,031 in price

  • For every one-unit increase of the variable size, it will increase 3 in price

  • R Square is 0,93: There are 93% variation of price can be explained by 4 variables

  • Simultaneous Test: All independent variables together have significant coefficient on explaining Price

  • Rooms & bathrooms have significant coefficient indicated by p-value <= 0.05

  • Car parks & size have a low significance test

ATTRITION ROOT CAUSE ON XYZ COMPANY

Project Summary:

A large company named XYZ, employs, at any given point of time, around 4000 employees. However, every year, around 15% of its employees leave the company and need to be replaced with the talent pool available in the job market. The management believes that this level of attrition (employees leaving, either on their own or because they got fired) is bad for the company. You need to find the root cause of this problem and identify metrics that can help in decreasing the attrition rate.

  • If we increase employee job & environment satisfaction, employee attrition will be reduce by 9,3% at the end of year.

  • If we reduce employee bad work life balance, employee attrition will be reduce by 1,7% at the end of year.
